Kale (150-200 days to grazing)

Generally slightly faster maturing than Swedes, with similar yield potential but lower nutrient density. There is a big range of digestability, from about 62’D’ to 70 ‘D’.

For stock use, we focus on high digestibility types, like Kestrel and Bittern, with high leaf:stem ratio, highly digestible stems and low level of SMCOs – Sulphur compounds found in Brassicas, especially in late winter, which can reduce animal perforamance by causing anaemia in stock.
