Barents is a new variety from Strube. Bred specifically for the AD market, it combines high yield with relatively clean-lifting roots. Dry matter is higher than all the other beet varieties we have and sugar levels are high, potentially generating gas faster in a digester.
Barents' large tops potentially protect the crown when harvesting late. It also has roots deeply set in the ground, further minimising risk of frost damage. Bolting resistance is also excellent. Surplus beet is ideal for stock feed.
